Offer the disguised pill before a meal when the cat is hungry and before it has received other treats that day. This is critical: dry pills take an average of 90 seconds to reach the stomach in cats (vs. 10 seconds in humans) and can lodge in the esophagus, causing chemical or physical esophageal damage. When pilling is impossible
Some cats are impossible to pill at home -- they resist so severely that the stress of the process outweighs the benefit of the medication, or they are genuinely dangerous to handle.
